The Villa player, who spent last season on loans from two different lower-division teams, is more set to finalize his transfer to the League Two team. This is the FA Youth Cup winner’s third loan period in two years, and he hopes to keep improving.
After losing in last year’s playoff final, the Railwaymen have been active on the transfer market. They will be up against some fierce competition from the clubs in their league as they attempt to atone for that disappointment and pursue their aim of promotion this time.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper was suspended from participating in the divisional playoffs after spending the first half of the season on loan at Gateshead, a National League team that sparked controversy over their participation.
In the latter part of that season, Villa promoted Marschall to League Two team MK Dons, sending him up the English football pyramid. He was disappointed by the second loan term since he played in just seven games at Stadium MK.
Additionally, Marschall made one appearance for Unai Emery’s team in the Europa Conference League, giving up one goal in a 1-1 tie with Zrinjski Mostar in Group E.
Crewe Alexandra has been busy this window, having signed four players so far this summer, including Newport County’s Omar Bogle. In addition to the 30-year-old’s arrival, they have managed to sign players from higher levels, including Jamie Knight-Lebel, who is on loan from Bristol City in the Championship, and Max Sanders from Leyton Orient.
The Villa man is looking increasingly likely to complete a move to the League Two outfit after loan spells with two separate sides in the lower tiers last season. The FA Youth Cup winner looks to continue his development with his third loan spell in two seasons.
The Railwaymen have been busy in the transfer market after falling to defeat in the playoff final last year. They look to make up for that heartbreak and push for their goal of promotion this time around, but they will face some serious competition from teams around them in the division.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper spent the first half of the campaign on loan with National League outfit Gateshead, who were the centre of controversy surrounding their participation in the divisional playoffs, which they were subsequently blocked from playing.
The second half of that season saw Marschall given a step up the English football pyramid as Villa moved him on to League Two outfit MK Dons. That second loan spell led to disappointment after he only made seven appearances at Stadium MK.
Marschall also featured once in the Europa Conference League for Unai Emery’s side, conceding one goal in a 1-1 draw with Zrinjski Mostar in Group E.
Crewe Alexandra have been busy this window, bringing in four players this summer already, including Omar Bogle from league rivals Newport County. Alongside the arrival of the 30-year-old, they have secured the capture of players from higher divisions, such as Max Sanders from Leyton Orient and Jamie Knight-Lebel on loan from Championship outfit Bristol City.
According to Birmingham World, the England youth international, who has been capped twice, will join the League Two side on a 12-month loan deal as Crewe look to push for promotion once more.
The loan spell will see Crewe pick up a goalkeeper who displays a lot of talent and, at a young age, has a lot of room to grow. However, his loan spell with MK Dons saw him fail to get minutes consistently, which could affect his confidence, meaning the League Two side may have to be patient with him before he displays some form.
Villa still have two young goalkeepers on their books, and as you would imagine from a Premier League side of their stature can cope with the temporary departure of the 21-year-old unless injuries throughout the season go against them.
