Labasa signs a rising Star during the transfer window.

Abraaz Malakai, a promising midfielder for Seaqaqa, joined Labasa during the midseason transfer window. The 21-year-old attracted the interest of Labasa officials during the President’s Cup at the just finished Fiji FACT at Subrail Park. Rayaz Khan, a local, immediately sought Mohammed Faiyaz, his father and Seaqaqa’s assistant coach. Malakai told FijLive that he was thrilled to join the Babasiga Lions camp after receiving the news from his father. Malakai began playing football at the age of twelve, and he played for Seaqaqa in the Senior Division for ten years.

A range of emotions are brought about by moving to a larger club. “I’m happy but worried. I genuinely look up to the Labasa players, and I know they have more experience,” he said. Malakai claims that his parents are pleased with his decision, particularly considering how long he has played football since he was a young child. While no players have asked to leave the district thus far, Labasa has added three Solomon Islanders to bolster their campaign in addition to Malakai.
