21-year-old Josaia Sela was the hero for Rewa, scoring twice to secure a 2-2 draw against defending champions Auckland City in the opening match of the OFC Men’s Championship.
Sela’s on-spot performance rightly earned him the Man of the Match title, thanks to his rapid-fire double goals that briefly gave Rewa the lead.
Facing one of the toughest sides in Oceania, breaking through Auckland City’s defense was a challenge for Rewa. Yet, Sela seized his opportunities with a ‘no time to waste’ attitude.
His first goal came from a smart interception of a loose pass from Auckland City; he took a moment to steady himself outside the box before firing a precise shot into the net.
He followed up just minutes later with a powerful strike from a side angle to double the team’s tally.
